Hello January

                                            Hello January

So it’s a new year new start and I’m determined to try this year to keep a up to date blog .

Knitting

Let’s start with my crafting then, in the beginning of December I decided I wanted to knit a jumper for myself for Christmas Day , I found a lovely pattern on Instagram being Ginger Twist Studios.I used yarn from my stash , which was Style Craft double knit. Well I was so pleased with the outcome of it and it fit really nice. I also was proud that I didn’t buy any yarn!
I was so happy that I completed it for Christmas Day!

Babble Hat

At the end of December going through to January 2020 I found a very cute bobble hat pattern on a well known site named Raverly , the pattern was called the Baa ble hat by Donna Smith. I hadn’t worked on colour changing before so I thought it was the best thing to start on as it was a small piece of working .
The yarn was jamieson and Smith which I purchased from The Coria Crafts Store Etsy.It was worked on 4mm and 4.5mm needles.
Because I found the yarn slightly rough to touch, I used a ball of Style Craft DK  for the brim so it was softer on the forehead.

I’m absolutely chuffed with the end result! If any of you knitters out there haven’t done colour work and would like to have a go, I thoroughly recommend this pattern!

CROSS STICH RETURNS!

`About 23 years ago I use to do quite a bit of Cross stitch but over time it phased out and I went onto
Embroidery, then during the start of December just gone I’ve been watching Vlogmas videos on YouTube to do with Cross stitch and knitting. I couldn’t believe what beautiful Cross stitch
Patterns are out there now, especially from America eg Country stitchers and Hands on Design.

I chose a beautiful kit Little House  NeedleWorks ( ABCs)  on EBay. It is worked on 32cnt Linen Grey 2over 2.
I also purchased some petite Cross stitch needles size 28 as I seem to work better with that size, the threads are lovely that came with the kit , the colours are subtle which I like very much,I do use Thread wax as it does really help with the ease of stitching . I think its done me good not cross stitching for such a long time, as I’m so enjoying it so much !

25 Reading challenge

So I end with a New Years challenge from my Daughter, she explained to me about a 25 books in a year Reading Challenge. I thought it was a nice idea as its something we could do together, which she agreed also.
One of my favourite Authors is M.C. Beaton with her Agatha Raisin stories, they are so light hearted so a good read at Bedtime.
I was lucky enough that my Daughter was doing her frequent library visit and found they were selling the whole set off, i was blown away when she brought them home for me!
I’ve completed my 2 books for this month ,my first was Kissing Christmas Goodbye and the second The Potted Gardener.

Well I think that’s all for me now until next time. Bye all and Take Care

January 2019

Well new year new start as they say. Most of last year I kept saying I must start my blog again, but no it didn't happen. Because of my health some days I just haven't got the energy or strength to do anything, but enough of that lets get back to the choice this year what I would like to put in my Blog!

I enjoy needlework, knitting, crochet and the garden (especially my recycled green house).

At the moment I've just started planting my seeds in the green house, African daisy, Aster, Lobelia and Sweet peas. My aim this year is to grow more flowers as each year I don't seem to have much luck with veg for some reason. I shall still continue with my tomatoes and Pumpkin maybe melon too!

As I'm talking about the garden I would like to introduce to you my Ducks Daphne and Jemima, Jemima is my granddaughter's but she stays at my house. I do have a Chicken too named Mavis which I will take a photo of and put on the blog  next time. It's so lovely when I'm in the garden
and they follow me around .

Stitching wise I'm working on a design by Calico and Stitch , I've never attempted Needle Turning before but I'm loving it , also choosing the fabrics for the clothing and the embroidery thread colours I love!

I'm also in between Crocheting a blanket a design by the wonderful Janie Crow (Mystical Lanterns) I was at a wartime (1930s-1940s) Vintage Festival and I saw this lady making this blanket , the colours she was using were beautiful , so I had to get my hook and start the pattern!

So that's me for now , time to pick up my hook and get some more crochet done! Till next time bye  and take care all!

Honiton lacemaking

I'm having to rest at the moment with a poorly foot. I thought I would do some of my Honiton lacemaking. This is my second pattern I have worked on and I am really enjoying it. It's differtnately keeping my mind busy. I normally do Torchon lace but fancied a change. The patterns for Honiton are so beautiful. Here is a picture of the my working lace , it is a flower with leaves.

Goodbye to the last two Puppies

Today both of the last two boy Puppies went to their new homes, number 3 has now been named George and number 4 was named Alfie. It seems quite empty here without them all and I have shed a few tears as each one went. Mummy Candy seems ok as she still has puppie Peaches. Candy plays with Peaches a lot. Peaches also likes sleeping with her Daddy Eddie.

Advent scarf

Now for crafting as it's December I wanted to do something crafty through Advent, low and behold I found a Advent scarf to make . Each day the website I found puts a pattern piece for the scarf through advent , up to Christmas Eve. I'm really enjoying this pattern experimenting with different patterns and the design uses beads. I have never knitted with beads before, but it is not as hard as I thought it would be.

Puppies

Well it's been a while since I last blogged. To get up to date with things the Puppies are 9 weeks old today. Number 1 girl has gone to her new home and her new owners have named her Bonnie. Number 5 boy also has a new home and he has been name Dougie. So I have the little girl number 2 which I was going to name Poppy but I have changed it to Peaches. I also have number 3 and 4 left from the litter which are both boys, waiting for new homes. It has been very hard saying goodbye to them all ,the family became very attached to them, but it has been a amazing experience.
